Challenge
RBI Advanced Analytics was looking for an innovative approach to meeting, ever-growing, analytical requirements raised by stakeholders throughout the organization. AA data scientists perform analytical tasks, requiring large amounts of computational power but within limited time-frames. As use-cases can vary greatly in data volume and complexity, a need for a flexible, highly scalable solution arose. The challenge was to provide analysts with a complete, diverse toolbox, on demand, in a matter of minutes without any need for manual configuration or setup. All of these requirements had to be fulfilled while meeting strict, banking security standards at the same time.
This led RBI ACE to start a program that would deliver an innovative, transparent, cloud-based solution that would provide their analysts with means to mine for answers to the most difficult questions posed by the business users.

Solution
Advanced Analytics Workspace introduces an AWS based analytics platform for data scientists and analytics users. It allows dynamic provisioning of workspaces containing remote IDE (Jupyter, RStudio, Zeppelin, Cloud 9 and others), EMR clusters, ETLs and data presentation dashboards. Highest priority was put on protecting sensitive data stored in Data Lake by using most restricted policies, at-rest encryption and controlling data transfer between storage places.
