Let’s Orange: Recruitment of the Future

Challenge

Let’s Orange is Orange Polska’s flagship summer internship program, attracting thousands of candidates each year.

This high level of interest prompted a search for innovative solutions to streamline the recruitment process and ease the workload for the HR team. The goal was also to gain a deeper understanding of candidates, not just through their education, but also their soft skills and cultural fit.

Orange Polska sought a solution that would ensure fair candidate selection while providing an interactive and engaging recruitment game experience to captivate young talent and build a positive brand image.

Solution

In collaboration with BlueSoft, an innovative game was developed to support the recruitment process and immerse candidates in a virtual Orange world.

Key features:

  • Diverse recruitment tasks, including open-ended, situational, and behavioral questions.
  • Instant, personalized feedback for candidates — process automation enables efficient handling of thousands of applications and provides immediate feedback upon game completion.
  • Assessment of soft skills as additional insight — beyond checking for role-specific competencies, the tool helps evaluate cultural fit and ways of thinking.

The use of generative artificial intelligence:

The project leveraged generative artificial intelligence to analyze open-ended responses. A key design principle was to ensure objective and consistent evaluations; evaluation criteria were defined by experts from Orange Polska and Amberstone, rather than by the AI itself.

The AI’s role was to assess candidate responses strictly against clearly defined guidelines. This approach combined the power of automation with the reliability of expert standards. Using AI allowed:

  • Fair, criteria-based assessment free from subjective evaluator bias,
  • Consistency of results,
  • Significant time savings by eliminating manual review of responses, which would otherwise require extensive effort and carry a higher risk of errors.

The technology enabled scalability without sacrificing personalization, and the entire process was integrated with the Let’s Orange program’s communication platform (praktyki.orange.pl).

Results

Final outcomes will be summarized after the 2025 edition concludes, but so far:

  1. The game attracted nearly 13,000 candidates and successfully fulfilled its pre-selection role, with about 20% of the top candidates progressing to the next recruitment stage.

  2. Candidates rated the new process as engaging and interesting.

  3. The application significantly reduced application evaluation time while maintaining high-quality selection.

  4. Orange gained a modern tool to enhance employer branding among young talents.
